Pump question

I currently have a 75 gallon tank. I am in the process of getting ready to upgrade to a 125 rr tank. The new tank has dual overflows and returns on it. What kind of pump do I need as a return pump? I have a mag 9.5 on my 75. Is that enough or do I need something that pumps more water?

I always follow the rule of turning over the tanks volume a minimum of 10 times an hour. Taking head loss into account you will need a pump that puts out at least 1300 GPH.

Is it better to have 1 or 2 pumps?

Through a fuge I believe 3-5x total system volume what is suggested. Trying to go too fast will result in a microbubble problem. It would be better to have 2 pumps. 1 running and 1 as backup incase the 1st fails.

I totally agree. Slow flow thru the sump.
