That is something you're going to have to decide but I have heard that leaving the rock on the bottom isn't the best of ideas because it can crack/scratch the glass. I have heard of using starboard or other materials to cover the bottom but still give a nice BB look.

I don't like the look of bare bottom tanks. It isn't natural. What are you going to put in a 12 gallon FOWLR tank?

After 1 1/2month my tank just went through its first diatom bloom. I placed some polishing material in my sump and Mech Filter. Took only two days for the cloudy water to clear up. I also added some carbon which i took out after the third day. I did my weekly water change and everything is hunky dorey. Now I just need some $$$ to buy more rock and some substrate. I will not buy any coral until I finish my set-up.

The afterbirth is the worst pain. The afterbirth is up to $450 and rising .

Lookin good...I notice you have a skeleton of some old coral in there. Whenever I've had one of those in my tank, for some reason algae grows on it sooo fast and it always seems to accumulate some kind of nuissance algae. Just my experience.

Had to do a little aqauscaping with my LR. The LS was being blown by the return nozzle covering the rocks. I made a little gizmo to lift the rocks of the sand. I think this looks much better. It only took a couple of hours the sand and cloudy water to clear up.

Empty Shells

The empty shells are part deco and also for the crabs. Hopefully they will go into one of the empty shells once they grow out of their current ones.

Update on water parameters.

It's been two months since starting my tank. My remora nano really did a job last nite. I had to empty the collection bin twice within a six hour period. Thinking of buying my first Zoo next week.

My nitrite=0, nitrates=0, PH=8.2, Alk=12.25cdh(3.5mEq/L), Ammonia=0

I'm sure the Zoo's will be fine with these parameters. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

New growth

Just found these little creatures. Don't know what they are as yet. I have to learn how to use this canon camera to get better macro shots.
I hope I could keep these little buggers.

Here is probably the best picture I have on file. Its almost like a grey or gunmetal color without the shine.

Unhappy Stumped

Here's an update on my tank. I've added a Green Zoo, Polyps and and orange Zoo. I've noticed that the orange zoo's are dying. One by one are falling off their stem. I measured my parameters and they are normal. I CANT SLEEP NOW. LOL. Here is a current pic of my tank.

You might want to try a little creativity with a small fan before you shell out the $$$ for a chiller. 82 really isn't terrible, a lot of wild reefs hit 86 or higher during the day. I've been watching the Bonaire reef webcam and it hit 86 most days this fall, and that's down about 15 meters. Did the zoos start melting as soon as you put them in? it could be light acclimation issues. Drop them down to the bottom and shorten the photoperiod for a few days before slowly increasing it if you think that might be the case.
