starting new 200 gal., need advice on powerheads

I am moving up from a 55gal. to a 200 gal. reef. I have been looking at the new Tunze Steams for water movement, but they look too powerfull. has anyone used them yet? and how do you like them?. Any other suggestions?

If you dont wanna spend the money on the tunze's go with the SEIO's like the 1500's or the new 2600's

they are amazing flow.

or do a closed loop on the tank for current.

Doesn't matter how much you have been reading , until you take the plunge. You don't know as much as you think..

i have a 240 with 6 power heads 1 of the sio 1500's and 5 of the maxi jet's i have great flow threw the tank. I set this tank up to show how to run power heads but i would rather (if you can) do a closed loop system.

I have two 6200's ready for my new 360 tank. Since the tank is not here I put one of the 6200's in a 40 gal. tank I am curing some live rock in with sand. Well, I had to try it out. I have the controller, but I did not use it. No proplem. Heck of a lot of flow, but no proplems with sand or water going out of tank. I hear with the controller you can dial it down to what ever you need and still have more ready to go if you ever need it. Hope this helps.

I would go closed loop... and an oceansmotion revolutions system....

If you cant go closed loop... the tunze streams... with a multicontoller

if you dont want to drop the coin on tunzes the go seio

im running a 220 right now and have no powerheads and have alot of flow enough for a reef. I have 3 1 inch bulkheads (each with there own overflow) to sump leading to 4 returns powered by my panworld and also have 2 surges above the tank. I am very pleased with flow. pics in gallery

A circulation pump that takes water from the tank and puts it back into the tank . This is flow that doesn't go thru the overflow or sump.

Also makes up for lots of powerheads.

Ok, I have never seen one like that before. Mine has overflows and I was reading this thread to see where I can place more pumps for better circulation. I am going to refit the main supply back in the tank with 2 more ball/socket lines so I will have 4 directions instead of just 2. any advice on where I can put more, amount and best direction?
