Live Rock question?
A few weeks ago I purchased a Coral Beauty and put him in my quarantine tank, a few days later he showed signs of ick. Before I started treatment I removed the live rock and tonga branch from the quarantine tank (I know...newbie here ) I put the live rock/tonga in a container with a heater and power head, I would like to move the live rock/tonga to the display tank.
My question is (does/will) the ick travel with the live rock/tonga if I leave it quarantined for say 30 days before putting in the display tank?...thanks! |

The life cycle for marine ich is about 8 weeks. If you leave the rock in a tank with no fish for that long, it'll probably be safe to use. The parasite can't reproduce unless there is a fish host present.

Dose the main tank have fish if so you need to leave the live rock/tonga in a container for at least 6 weeks, to kill the ich as it may be infested.
and [welcome]
