Id Hitchhiker Crab

I know, I know picture is what you want but I can't get one of this little guy! I just got some candy canes from drfostersmith.com (which were really awesome by the way) and when I was putting them in a small crab fell off and into the tank. He is about the size of a dime, sand colored, almost as thin as a dime, and looks like he maybe hairy. I thought it was like a molted shell of this thing but when he hit the sand he was off to the rocks!!! I have looked around to Id him but found nothing. Anyone know what this might be and if I need to get him out?

You are going to need a picture for any kind of id of course. Hairy and brown sounds like a gorilla crab but it could really be anything. Gorilla crabs are bad but I would not think something like this would come from dr. fosters. I would suggest you get a small jar and put a piece of shrimp in it and put it up against the rocks where you saw him go and leave the jar angled to where if he gets in the jar he can not get out. It is hard for them to climb up glass. I would say 45 degrees would be good. Then take a picture and post it for an id.

if it was tan and hairy, then i most likely is a "gorilla crab" as bOwenji said. I had one hitchhike into my tank from my LR...it took a few weeks but i speared it with a kaboob stick...

Maybe take a look at this website and compare if you find it difficult to take a picture.
