Question Whats your opinion on your 6-line?

Im going back and fourth trying to decide if maybe in a month or so to try a 6-line, Ive read that they are peaceful, and other places that they can be somewhat agressive. So what do you think about your own 6-lines, it would be nice in my tank too! Also please show some pictures of the beautiful fish!
Thanks,
Patrick

I have had one for close to two years now, but have over 150lbs. of live rock in my 104g. I have heard the more rock you have / better yet, better usage of rock in aquascaping, results in less aggression. I do have other wrasses in the tank, and it doesn't bother them. Love this fish.

I like my little six-line. I’ve had him for nearly three years. He’s a little bully and tries to pick fights with the other fish in the tank (Yellow Mimic Tang, Coral Beauty, Royal Gramma, Yellow Watchman and striped mandarin), but none of the other fish are the least bit intimidated by him. It’s, probably, because they are all bigger than him.

It’s a very colorful, almost hyperactive fish and a real character. I’ve never been able to capture mine in a picture. It’s just too fast.

All I can recommend is that, if you get one make sure it’s the littlest fish in the tank and nothing else in the tank can be easily intimidated.

My six line is probably the "smartest" fish in the tank. Tends to stay near the rock work. He can/does harrass my clowns at times, but seems to have "mellowed" a little since I've had him. Excellent fish that is known to eat some of the pests in our tanks, esp. flat worms.

There is only one fish that I am worried about in my tank, and that would be the Blackray Shrimp Goby (Stonogobies Nemotodes) and about how small are they when they are babies?
P.S. Please Post some pics!

My sixline is a peaceful tankmate. He rarely bothers the corals or the other inhabitants. I believe he has really help me reduce the number of bristleworms to an "acceptable" level, and he has one fat belly to prove it.

I've had good luck with my sixline after about 6 months. He is hyperactive, and is always checking everything out. Seems fairly intelligent for a fish. Competitive eater.

(He is actually watching me type this at the moment...hmmm...)

Generally leaves the other fish alone, but I have seen him mix it up with my female Maroon Clown (just chasing each other around, when he invades her space). She is a bit larger than the sixline, but he doesn't seem to care -- of course, he moves MUCH faster.

Overall, he gets a thumbs up!

I had 1 in my 40 with 2 clowns and a clown goby. He never bothered them at all. I had read posts about them being jumpers but did not think that he could get out since my light system covers just about the entire tank except for the 3 inches around the edges. (Light is on legs). Then one day I found him on the carpet. If you do get one cover the top. Mine was fine for 6 months and then.......

my friend had one and it killed a mystery wrasse in less then one hour. I will never buy one. I like the 4-line wrasses better anyway

My name says it all...at least i chose one as my moniker. You just have to be pick with the fish you keep them with...I've always kept 6-lines...have had the last for almost four years...

I got one years ago to control the worm population. He's still around and is really quite a bully. Harrasses the clowns when they are tending a nest; keeps my royal gramma in hiding, kills most shrimp I've tried to keep; and drove a lawnmower into the overflow box, into the skimmer box and (finally) out of the tank. He doesn't hurt any of the corals; have mostly softies. Sure is a pretty fish. He's the second smallest fish I have. Think hard about it. JKJ

Very peaceful. If anything, he gets pushed around by my Flame Angel.

The coloring is amazing. Especially when they flash the top orange fins (when he's mating with his reflection on the glass).

...Satan incarnate. Mine has killed every subsequent fish (hence, I have only added a few, mainly some gobies, other wrasses, even a tang).

Mine is my favorite fish on the tank. Very fun to watch but a pain to take a picture of.
Just my 5 cents.

I had one for at least 7 years before it died of what i can only guess was natural causes. Never bothered a thing. Had it in with a purple tang, pair of ocellaris clowns, juv imp angel and various sand sifting gobies and whatnot. I have since (died 4-5 years ago) reintroduced one into my tank and it has not bothered a thing either. Granted its the smallest fish in the tank but hey...
Same pair of clowns still resides and they have never had a problem. Oh, my clowns also have a huge (14" at least) E. quadricolor to hide in though.

I'd just say as it, especially if its the last fish in the tank. If you're concerned just get a small one and i'm sure it'll be fine. Funny thing though, my first 6line never bothered a fish but when i was at the front of the tank it would come to the glass and jerk its head making clicking noises.

Absolute perfect citizen in a 38g with two cinnamon clowns and a bicolor blenny. Never touches corals or clams, never pesters other fish. Eats like a pig (pellets, flakes, and LOVES frozen, especially Mysis). I've had mine a few months. Never thought about jumping (yet), and a nice competitive eater. He's a little skiddish, and hides when i put my hand in the tank, but that's OK. If he died or jumped, I'd get another, no question.

Oh, and dangerously fast. Even my DSLR camera has never caught him very well.

Lol Kalare! Mine does the same thing also but I don't hear any clicking--he twists and turns and raises his spiked green dorsals as he confronts the glass--I call it his early evening fiestiness!

Well, I think im going to try one. Im going to try to make sure to get it as small as possible. Also Ill get it in something like a month because I added my Royal Gramma about two weeks ago, Ill let him get comfortable first! Thanks for the help, and still if you can please try to catch some pics of your own!

I've got one and I have yet to see it bother any of my other fish. My Yellow Tang thinks he's a Cleaner Wrasse. And now the Six Line will pick at the sides of the Tang.
