Designing front panel of in-wall tank

I have a 265 gal in-wall tank, with a recessed front panel. I decided on this design after seeing the tanks at Mystic Aquarium in CT. There have been 2 problems. I use a cleaning magnet on the front panel, and I can't access the edges of the tank. Also, water has found its way on occasion over the front of the tank, damaging the lower portion of the recess, which is sheetrock. Now I am planning an upgrade to a 400 gal in-wall. I don't want to access the tank from the viewing side. Any suggestions for how best to set the tank into the wall? If I were to make the front panel flush with the wall, that would take care of the magnet cleaning problem, I think, but I do like the look of a recessed tank. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
