You answered your own question, it's doesn't matter who you buy the fish from, Tangs are Ich magnets and need to be QT, like any other fish you put in your main system.

Simple math: weigh the cost of not QT'ing a fish and have a tank wipe out vs. the cost of a 20g+ QT tank

Any fish I get spends 1-2 weeks in Hyposalinity and then another 2 weeks in normal salinity before introducing it to the main system, I hear so many stories of people adding a new fish and just to have it spread a illness and killing their favorite fish of five years plus the new fish and other tankmates.

I have a 20g QT tank and a 10g hospital tank, the money you spend on those two system will eliminate the heartbreak and wastefulness of all those fishes lives. And will save you more money than you can ever know.
