I have a CS6-1 (I think? had it about 3 years, it's 20 inches tall and has Sedra 5000 pump) in my sump. I have been frustrated by the tiny amount of skimmate it's producing, so I found this thread.
I found the gate valve modification info and went off to the hardware store. I couldn't find a pvc gate valve, so I just bought and assembled the other parts. The modification is now on my skimmer, minus gate valve. Anyone else try this? How important is the valve?
