feeding your fish period. all of the ditrus that is produced. all of the animals and bacteria in the tank produce waste and some of the waste is good nutrients, and some bad, that weren't absorbed into the body of the organism that it came from and is released into the water column. having a very good skimmer and running carbon and phosphate removers will help cut this down tramensly.
