I had a very similar problem with my Hammerhead when it was hard plumbed all the way through. Now i think it is fairly quiet, much more than the larger iwakis and panworlds I've used. It does however has very low hum to it. I use Fernco couplings at the input and output also the pump sits on top of 2 layers of hi-density foam pads.
