There's more to it than this, and OPINIONS VARY but basically... Lower kelvin rated bulbs have a yellower color but they stimulate growth better (5,500kelvin to 10,000kelvin). Higher kelvin range is crisper white to blue, but they don't stimulate growth as much (12,000kelvin to 22,000kelvin). Some people combine the two: One for growth, the other to supplement the pretty color. Hope that's a helpful start. Somebody else correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks Kevin! I know about the kelvin scale and how it relates to colour and growth. I'm more interested in the subjective aesthetic... Some people SWEAR by the colour of VHO actinics while others avoid the supp issue w/ a whatever-K bulb on an xyz ballast at the expense of growth.

Reading on the boards has given me a familiarity with what would work, but not what I want.

I saw that Sanjay is coming in Feb. That's really awesome! I'll definitely be coming to that.
