Hey Aquaman.....being a building inspector/contractor watcher/engineer......I can tell you that the generally accepted height is that which electric outlets are mounted. CO is in fact heavier than air. The rule of thumb is smoke up....CO down. When using a smoke/CO combo the recomendation is to mount mid-wall.....not on the cieling. Hope this helps........Steve
