For proper coraline growth you want good steady water readings.
Proper water flow,proper water source , proper flow , good lighting, and do your water changes. I golden rule in SW is never add anything you havent tested for.
Plus it may helped to jump start the growth but if it stops growing then you need to solve the reason rather then just dosing.
