I agree that guns should be secured, but the idea of sending the parents to jail in this incident should be beyond consideration. If the shooting didn't "rehabilitate" them, then jail ain't goin' to do a durn thing.
This story reminds me that my 6-year-old is almost strong enough to chamber a round on my 9mm. I reckon' it is time to lock it.
P.S. Not exactly Darwin Award material since they already procreated. Plus, the DA board would just say this is a common, dumb accident that happens 300~400 times per year (like drowning when you jump in the water to save a person from drowning).
