That only happens to people that underestimate the infestation. If you've been proactive in sucking them out daily for a couple of weeks, treating the stragglers isn't a risk at all, imho.
And I've treated two different tanks that had red planaria, without incident. Just follow my directions as well as the ones Salifert recommends.
