So far I haven't had any losses with mine.
I have soft,lps,sps in the tank.
He does nip at things when passing by he will just do a quick peck on the clam or zoo.
It doesn't appear to do any damage. it just causes the clam to retract a little.
My only complaint is he will hound any new fish introduced in to the tank. But eventually it subsides.
