The other benefit of Tivo or DVR is that you can skip the commercials, and hence the consumer brainwashing and/or objectional content. This is effective not just for kid's shows, but stuff I want to watch that has commercials I'd rather my 2.5 year old didn't see. The Tour de France, for example - it's on Spike, and while I love it when my daughter wants to "watch bike rides" with me, I'd rather not expose her to the violent and filthy commercials that are commonly aired on Spike.
