Depending on your lights, they may be to low.
If you look to finding a calcerous flat chuck of material (I have used the calcerous tubes of worms, they are flat and about 2" in diameter) Set this on the floor of the tank, set the Clam on top of it. He will attach to this chunck of calcium based material in a couple weeks and you can then move him and his lazyboy where you want. I would move him over a series of days so that he can acclimate to the higher light levels.
