samson, I think most fish benefit from more than one feeding a day--in the wild they generally eat all day. Triggers constantly pick at stuff when you see them in the wild.

I think the color thing and your trigger is normal

as for growth rate it's the only one I kept, and we fed it a lot cause it was "fun". weekly 10% water changes and the nitrates were still off the scale, but the trigger didn't care.
