I rarely frag zoanthids in the usual sense of the word. My tanks are for my enjoyment and looking at chopped up corals doesn't fit into the equation. Instead I'll put pieces of rubble along the edges of a colony I want to control or frag. Once the rubble is overgrown it's cut loose from the main colony and replaced with a fresh piece of rubble.
It's not as fast (or lucrative) as chopping up a zoanthid colony but it works for me.
