Welcome back Laurent. That sounds & looks like diatom to me. My rock & sand at one time were pretty covered with the rustry looking stuff. If you can get it locally try some Saltwater Bio-Spira - it's a refridgerated live bacteria culture that I've used in FW and in the RSM with IMO a lot of success. I added the Nitrobac too, but also added Bio-Spira. I'm not sure how good the Nitrobac type products are. Hope you get the timer soon. Ithink my heater quit on me, but I'll probably just get a different type instead of going through RSM on it.
