AC Controller ---> Heater Controller ---> Heater Probe --->Heater Element

So the AC probe tells it that the tank is cool and the heater should turn on. It applies power to the outlet the heater controller is plugged into. So the heater controller has power now and its own probe. The question is, does its probe agree and allow the heater element to be powered on?

In this case, if either probe is faulty, you still have the backup probe. If the heater probe malfunction, the heater will only get power if the AC Controller probe allows it, and vice versa.

I hope that makse better sense, but I would be glad to discuss it more if needed.
