When I read it I thought "oh yeah, my mom has some of those planted... so that's how it's pronounced." and everything was right in the world... until now.
But you know what? I'll be darned if I can find a single other reference on google or a picture of this "flower" it was suposedly named after.
guess it goes to show believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.
