I have grown a blue crocea clam from about a 2" size to a 6" size over the past year. I was looking at it the other day and its mantle has one spot where the pigments look pink/fresh colored instead of blue with a black background. I'm not sure if this is bad or not, because this is my first clam and it has not had any problems in the past. My best guess is that its mantle is extended to the point where the pigments are stretched. Is this possible or do you think that it is something else? On a side note, I just recently placed a baby maxima about 4 inches away from it, not sure if that will affect anything. Should I be worrying about this spot or is this something normal?
Here is a link to the pic. it came out a little blurry but you can see the pink spot and the baby maxima.
