Jeff have you ever conisdered a natural gas generator they are as big as a house air conditioning unit. No worries about hauling gas. It would also power your whole house. They range from 2k and up. Maybe this would save you headaches in the future. It is good to keep the gasoline one in severe cases if a gas main is broken.
