Keep in mind that what you are striving for with this type of fish, or any tang really, is swimming area. Regardless of total gallons, I think any tang other than yellow, purple or kole need at least six linear feet of tank. And keep in mind when referencing books or websites, even the concientious recommendations for tank requirments are typically minimum sizes. If you plan to have other fish, the minimum just won't do.

I bought a hippo that was about the size of a quarter a year ago, and I can already tell he's going to outgrow my 135. He's just growing like a weed.

People around here have no motivation to give you bad advice. If several people are saying it's a bad idea, it probably is.
