That didnt break from shipping damage. It "broke" in use when something overheated either from a surge or just something else going bad ... a short, something failing and allowing too much power to get to some of the components, a thermistor that failed and allowed the unit to overheat ... something, but not shipping damage.

The original owner may or may not have known of the issue. It could have been acting up like shutting down intermittently from overheating or otherwise so he dumped it before it failed. Or, it just may be one of those bad luck things where it just happened to fail for you.

I guess you could see if the seller is interested in refunding your money. Otherwise, Coralvue should be able to repair it. Most places have a flat fee for stuff like that.
