Don't know if cheaper, but I buy all my filters from Filter Guys (I have a spectrapure unit). I also change everything (filters, not membrane) ~ 6 or 7 months by default. Membrane is still running solid, Chicago water is pretty good. The carbon block, DI, and micron filter are something like $30 from Filter Guys and shipping is pretty cheap.
