water offsets a lot of the weight of the rock, so it is way less strain on the glass vs stacked in there dry.

Obviously, you don't want to wedge rocks so they force against the sides since that adds to the overall outward stress on the sides, but touching or leaning also does not add much force.


so, yes, tons of people have rock stacked on the bottom glass and touching the sides with no incident, myself included.
