Drill it! Its easy as long as you are patient while drilling.
I used my 12V drill and a diamond hole saw bit and basically let the weight of the drill slowly eat away through the glass. The most critical point, IMO, is to not chip the glass too badly when the hole is almost all of the way through the pane.
No practice hole here either
