Ammonia is horrible for corals and fish. You want Ammonia and Nitrite to be at 0...ideally you want your Nitrates to be 0 as well...but anything less than 10 is acceptable. Your best bet would be to take your anemone back and tell them to hold it...along with telling them that they're silly for saying ammonia is normal.
