I can't remember what feeds the diatom - phosphate or silicate? My recent bloom is getting better though - since rinsing the frozen mysis I feed - to get rid of the extra nutrients in the water the shrimp are frozen with. The extra nutrients in that water are probably beneficial to the corals, but not to my substrate! Phosphate & silicate come in with the water used I believe.
