A cheap little float valve will save you guys. I did it the hard way years ago, but now it's impossible to flood anything. I know what you mean though, I remember finishing my basement hanging drywall, texturing, and finally painting then about 8 hours later ruining the ceiling because the tank upstairs flooded over. I was ****ed, i had just completed the painting and then a bunch of the ceiling was sagged and the paint blistering.
The tank is now on the bottom floor, thats the safest place
