I use the pinpoint ph monitor. Sometimes I use an AP test to make sure the results are consistent with the monitor. I calibrate the thing every so often hoping that it is giving me a false reading....

those look like astrea snails, or "atlantic turbo" snails. They are local, found mostly in the keys.

People give me a hard time about not having a protein skimmer, but the results speak for themselves. My corals look pretty good in a warm tank with a low ph and no skimmer. Go figure

Sponges and gorgonians seem to do well for a period of time then usually die. We call them "rentals". Stick with hardy soft corals Zoanthids and mushrooms are tough and last more than a few months.

I found this older pic. It might be 5 months old. You can sort of see the 90 elbow in the top right corner. It isnt bad looking now that it has some coraline on it. Before it was an eyesore....

I drilled a hole in the back right corner of the overflow and siliconed a bulkhead with a 90 in it then. Hard to explain. I will take some pics later tonight and post them tomorrow.
