My superskimmer is super loud

The motor in my Coralife Superskimmer is driving me up the wall. I don't know if it's just old and worn-out or what, but it's loud and grating. Definitely the weak link in my sound chain.

Pump Question

I have yet another pump question. A lot of the external "pressure" pumps say they only pump 400 or 500 gph, but they have a huge max head rating (14 or 15 feet). The submersible pumps have a much...

I've had 3 for about 2 years now. 5 or 6 didn't make it through quarantine, but once I got them past the first month, mine have been fine. I got mine at New Alameda Aquatics--they mostly focus on...

Hahnmeister, just to clarify, I was referring to pumps, as in return pumps. Powerheads are definitely more efficient than pumps--my hydor koralia 1 moves 400 gph at 3.5 watts, for 114 gallons per...

The Deltec HLP 4040 pump is 1000 gph @ 60 watts = 16.7 watts per gallon. Better than Ocean Runner, but still can't beat Rio.

Please, people, prove me wrong.

Ocean Runner 3500 is 900 gph @ 65 watts = 13.9 gallons per watt, about half as efficient.
