HELP! my buddy has a 300g that is bout to pop!

my friend bought a used 300g from someone about 2 years ago and set it up about 6 months ago. just last night we realized that the glass braces on the top...

is it possible to light a 48x48x8 tank with just one mh bulb?

if it is, what would be the best way to do it?

the tank is gonna be full of hard coral.

the most common thing they do is put leaks in the overflow boxesit's a pita too. i've seen 2 tanks since jan. get messed up by worms... crazy

do i need the plastic rim on the top of a 30 cube?

it's an oceanic cube 20x18x20 with the black frame.

it doesn't seem like it would make a diff. if i didn't have that black plastic rim on top of it.

can i take it off and just have it be...

i know it isn't exactly a clownfish but still i thought it was neat. the first domino was supposed to be food.... he saw the lion and jumped into the anemone. so i addded 7 more.

anyway, just got a 120 and want to go with t5s over it. i plan on the tank being barebottom with solely sps. i think i could probobly get 10...

i think the ballast that are running mine are rated for 150somethin watts of HO t-5..... i've got 2 of em running 4 39watters..... im pretty sure you'll be okay.

im just looking for something that explains flux, lumens, par and what makes different light sorces produce varying amounts of each....

i understand the basics, but i wanna know more "why is what"...
