I am running a BB tank with RDSB. IMO, it is the best of both worlds. You can have a whole bunch of flow, as well as the denitrifying/stabilization/buffering capabilities of sand.

I am afraid that with the 1 pump(Vortec), I will have more of a chance of having dead spots. Just don't want to make a wrong decision; they are both pretty pricey decisions.

They are both the same price, so, even if I have to use the Vortec at 1/2 power; I feel like it guves me more of an option to use it on a larger tank later on.
