I use the mag 7 and I do not have any problems w/ noise. I like them, but there are many other great pumps out there!

Mexican turbos and an unchin seems to be all I need in My 120!
But astreas and ceriths are nice too, Hermits are to hostile to keep with snails so I dont suggest them.

I agree with the guy above, I use a regular $5 fixture and some Reptile 50-100watt daylight bulbs and my Cheato grows like a champ!
T5s just to expensive for a fuge.

I did have a great sucssess with my corals, but I must say once I expeienced what Halides and T5s can do I will never go back!!!

I havent had expierence using bio balls myself, but have been told many times they are nitrate traps.
Patience is a plus in this...
