2 T5's would probably be enough if you got individual reflectors such as the Ice Cap retro kits. If you were looking at a shared reflector fixture, I think a 4 bulb T5 would be needed.

The difficulty to program was a bit of a concern. I see that Neptune has some additional software that you can buy, or you can write code. I supposed you can also do some of it on the device...

I have a Koralia 3 in my 40 Breeder. It is advertised at 850 gph, but it is a gentle flow because the pattern is so wide. It is large in the thank but not too unsightly IMO. I think it would work...
