They are magnetic ballasts for the halides and I believe electronic for the T5s. For the most light output available from the bulbs, you really want magnetic.

Its a 240 and don't worry, I had plans for any clowns that are not 'happy' as they grow up. My best friend owns a huge local fish store and I'll take them back to him.
