phosphates tested at 0ppm, nitrates are at .5ppm I am assuming this is all due to me removing he turbo snails. I will go get some smaller ones at the lfs, maybe I can trade them big ones for small...

Thats what I do as well, I have seen good growth with both low and high flow but I prefer the higher flow as it keeps the gunk out of the macro algae.
