On mine I'm using a MAG18, a reasonable pump for a decent price. It puts at a guess 1000-1100gph through my 65g sump. it sounds like a lot but I've found that that is a nice rate of flow for my set...

I have a similiar size tank and it has a 2" drain with a 1" return. Works great, also added a durso/ stockman to the return for noise control.

I 've never seen coraline algae that won't come off with an over night soaking in vinegar. I usually do one side at a time by laying the tank down on the side that you want to clean and prop it up...
