I have heard that a blenny (specifically in my case a bicolor) will attack a firefish goby, due to the similarities in body structure. I am wondering if this is true and if anyone has any experience...

But you can keep any number of things:
namely clowns, and gobies.

I don't know if the rips are due to their fighting, however, it could "just" be some rot. When they fight I only see the larger grab the side fins of the smalller, and the rips are on the dorsal.

I have a pair of black ocellaris and the female (assuming she is the female, she is much larger) is really bullying around the male. It started out with just a few nips, but now they get into brawls...
