I think white would look better for the reason you stated. Black will hide a lot of the detail in the work.

Make sure you primer the pine a few times, even with that you might have some painting problems with it. It's usually best to use sandply or birch in these applications. Good luck!

I keep my drip rate to 35ml a minute. I don't have a port on my MRC either, instead I use my probe in the sump and have my ACJR turn off the reactor if my PH where to ever fall.
