Does your 29 have a center brace?? The MH directly above the brace is not good. You could melt it and you will have a big shadow. A single MH will not cover a 30" tank very well, the areas at the...

The "regular" Nova with 4X24 watts over a 12" deep tank would be great. I ran a single 65 watt PC over a 15 long with Zoas, Mushrooms and LPS for 2 years. No problem. R

Take a look at the Current Nova 2 tube 18" lights. They are cheap, run cool, very compact and bright. Forget all the "no individual reflectors" comments about the Nova--your tank isn't very deep. I...

Current makes an 18" unit. They are only 2x18 watts, but they are cheap and small--so you can put 3 of them on your cube. Three units, 108 watts is as bright as 160 watts of PC and much cooler. R

The Remora was a good skimmer, I think the Octopus is a better one. Most people who use a HOB need it to be compact. The Remora is small and works OK, but if you have the room get the Pus. R

You know they put that shield there for a reason. Use it.
You can wipe off a dirty shield or you can replace the corroded reflectors, it's your call. R

I have seen tanks where LR is the only filter--no mechanical filter to remove particulates--have a problem. The rock eventually "suffocates" from the gunk in the water. Use a filter sock. R

The maximum absorbency of Chlorophyll is 400-480 nm.
The shorter the wavelength, the higher the energy.
After full spectrum light passes through a few feet of sea water what's left?? Actinic.

I see how your method works. It's the IV drip method that I was referring to.
The IV just drips at hopefully a constant rate, independently of the rate of evaporation. R

I really doubt that the egg crate manufactures are out to rip off the hobbyists. The total amount of egg crate sold for aquarium usage is probably a fraction of a fraction of one percent. For...

This method will work, but the amount of water added has no relationship to the amount of water needed to bring the level back. You set it and hope the evaporation rate stays constant. R
