New Hood

Hi all, I want to build a new hood for my acrylic tank so that i can put MH lights in it. It is not high enough now so i want to re-do it. does anyone know what kind of wood would be optimal?

Hood Height.

Ok so i decided on going with 250W 14K Mh lights. Now my question is...How high do i need to rebuild my hood in order for me to use them safely with a 110 Gal acrylic tank without damaging the tank....
