But are the button polyps ok? Will they eventually get used to the new lighting and return to normal? Should I take action now to prevent them from getting damaged further?

Or is 3 days too few...

White tentacles: Brittle stars perhaps. Are they usually in groups of 2 or 3 sticking out of the rock? Watch long enough and they may crawl out and across the rock and you will see they are true...

Button Polyp Problem - Caused by lighting?

My button polyps have begun to show a serious problem. The polyps look all swollen and glassy, the heads inverted, and they no longer close at night or when my cleaner shrimp walks over them. See...

How about using miracle mud as a compromise? Seems that would be a cheap and easy way (no plenum) to get more benefit than just sand, and might provide benefits sooner than a DSB which might take...

My 35g is even smaller than papa's 55g, so I would think the effect of a 9g DSB might be even more effective?

If I went with the DSB, should I go with the plenum, sand sifters, etc? I've not done...

I'm thinking about what to put in my 9 gallon (14 inch tall) fuge. I was considering chaetomorpha with some live rock fragments.

Should I go with a DSB? If so, will I need a plenum? What sort...

I'm getting a Mag 5 with 5' head, so I think I can go up to around 250 gph, and I'm thinking to split the overflow between a fuge and sump, so I may like to let the pump run to capacity depending on...

Setting up my sump... I will be running at 180 to 200 gph. Tank is 35g, sump 28g (20g active). Looking at lifereef overflow box rated at 700 gph with 1" fitting. I'd like to minimize overflow...

Yeah, from what I've read so far those are the reasons for keeping the flow below 5x volume. Any thoughts on me using a 3/4" tube?

You're right about the modular tubing. Perhaps just split and return in two places? Good to keep at the surface for surface agitation?

I had heard to keep the flow through the sump at 3x to 5x...

Re: Do I need more flow?

Not exactly... The max head is the maximum distance the pump can push the water, i.e. at 12' you will get 0 gph. The longer the distance, the lower the gph. I often see charts presented with the...
