I see no reason to worry about high magnesium levels. Let them come down on there own.
I have been running my MAG levels high 1500+ to combat a little bryopsis in my tank. It seems to be working...

If the PH probe did not dry out during the CA reactor downtime & it is calibrated, try turning up the bubble count.
Is the recirculation pump working?

But I don't really see any damage from them, & my polyp extension also seems to be better than most.
I've read stories that some reefers don't...
