it's probably a molt. inverts do that. new environments (stress) sometimes cause it, and it has to do with iodine levels too. i know it's weird to see the first time, but it's nothing to be worrried...

i always do it to reduce the amount of food that...

i always do it to reduce the amount of food that the fish don't eat because it's being blown around or something. less waste. plus the pump won't blow the food away from my candy cane's mouth.
